About Dzi Beads

About Dzi Beads
Dzi Beads are formed from high grade Tibetan agate and have long been regarded throughout centuries as a precious living gemstone possessing powers of blessings, protection, health, wealth and spiritual benefits.

In Ancient Eastern & Western Tibet, Bhutan, Ladakh, Sikkim & the Himalayans, Dzi Beads date as far back as 2000 BC. Dzi Beads have also been referred to as Heaven’s Beads and Heaven’s Pearls due to their strong magnetic energy and talismanic properties.

The patterns on Dzi Beads are created by the ancient art form of etching. This process includes placing a natural alkali matter on the piece then carefully heating and firing it, cautious to remove the piece prior to reaching shattering limits.

Dzi Beads are said to strengthen with age. Weathering marks, scaling, cinnabar dots, natural flaws, small chippings and cracks are caused by age and are the most sought after.

The effects of the magnetic energy contained in Dzi are similar to those of acupuncture. The Dzi has 3 times more magnetic energy than many crystals, typically 12-13 volts and a Mohs hardness index scale of 7–8.5, just under a diamond whose Mohs hardness index scale is 10.

Each pattern, commonly known as "eyes" represent distinct merits and blessings of protection. Although Dzi Beads are patterned after each other, all are different in individual characteristics such as hues, exact size and natural flaws of the agate.
